Tennessee Hog Rifles

Original Appalachia Mt. Rifle
I know finding pictures of original TN rifles is like searching for a needle in a hay stack so with the generosity of some others I'll post them when I can.  If you have an original and would allow others to enjoy, please drop me an e-mail and I'll try to get them posted.

A plain Jane rifle made in the area of Soddy-Daisy.  The characteristics are easy to see if you look closely and compare to other rifles made in E. TN.  Notice the deep cresent buttplate with the apex of the curve being close to center.  The comb is very narrow and pointed.  A long straight tang terminating just at the nose of the comb.  You will also notice the cheek piece is shaped differently than normal cheekpiecesand flows into the wrist.

Below is one of the finest examples of Soddy-Daisy rifle you will find.  Also one of the few with a patchbox.  Special thanks to Tim Mahony for allowing me to post the pictures.
Another fine East TN rifle compliments of Tim.  I'd like to thank Tim Mahony for allowing me to post the pictures below.  So many of these old guns get locked away in a safe or closet and are only enjoyed by their, as Tim calls himself, the temporary caretaker.  I think that is very accurate description and really appreciate Tim sharing.
